Laundry per kg in Delhi: what a kilo actually buys
Most laundry services in Delhi price everyday washing by weight, because a shirt and a T-shirt take the same effort in a machine. A kilo of clothes is roughly four or five shirts, two pairs of jeans, or a double bedsheet with its pillow covers. A typical family sends six to eight kilos a week.
There are three per-kg tiers, and the difference between them is what happens after the wash:
- Wash & fold — washed, tumble-dried and folded. The cheapest tier, right for T-shirts, nightwear, towels and bedsheets.
- Wash & steam iron — the same wash, then every piece steam-pressed and returned on hangers or folded flat. This is what most working households use for shirts, trousers and kurtas.
- Premium laundry — a gentler, lower-temperature wash for delicates, better shirts and anything you would rather not risk. Woollens have their own per-kg rate because they need a cold, low-agitation cycle and flat drying.
Here is what ClanClean charges per kg at Laxmi Nagar. Laundry comes back in 48 hours as standard; see the laundry by kg page for what each tier includes.
All ClanClean figures in this guide are for our Laxmi Nagar outlet in East Delhi. Malviya Nagar and Sarvapriya Vihar publish their own price lists: Malviya Nagar · Sarvapriya Vihar. Prices may vary — please confirm the current rate with the outlet before booking.
| Laundry (per kg) | Laxmi Nagar |
|---|---|
| Wash & fold | ₹70 |
| Wash & steam iron | ₹120 |
| Premium laundry | ₹175 |
| Woolen laundry | ₹220 |
Rates per kg after the standard 20% discount. Verified September 2026. Hotels, PGs, salons, gyms and other businesses sending laundry in bulk are quoted on weekly volume instead; see commercial and bulk laundry.
Worked example: a 6 kg weekly load of shirts, trousers and kurtas on wash & steam iron costs ₹720 at Laxmi Nagar. The same load through a per-piece service at ₹40–₹50 a shirt would be ₹1,200 or more. For everyday cottons, per-kg is nearly always the cheaper route.
Dry cleaning prices in Delhi, per garment
Dry cleaning is priced per piece because every garment is treated individually: spotted for stains, cleaned in solvent rather than water, then hand-finished on a form. Price rises with fabric, lining, size and embellishment, which is why a plain cotton shirt and a lined wool coat sit at opposite ends of the card.
These are ClanClean’s dry cleaning rates for the most-asked-about garments. Standard turnaround is 72 hours; express is available at roughly double the rate.
Men’s wear
| Garment | Laxmi Nagar |
|---|---|
| Shirt / T-shirt | ₹110 / ₹90 |
| Trouser / jeans | ₹130 / ₹120 |
| Kurta / pyjama | ₹120 / ₹110 |
| Coat or blazer | ₹225 |
| Jacket | ₹225 |
| Suit, 2 piece | ₹335 |
| Suit, 3 piece | ₹440 |
Women’s wear
| Garment | Laxmi Nagar |
|---|---|
| Kurta | ₹120 |
| Salwar / palazzo | ₹110 / ₹130 |
| Saree / blouse | ₹230 / ₹60 |
| Dress | ₹250 |
| Dupatta | ₹100 |
| Shawl | ₹300 |
| Lehenga | ₹1,000 |
Per piece, after the standard 20% discount. Heavily embellished or bridal pieces are quoted after inspection.
A few things worth knowing before you compare cards. A “suit” price on most Delhi rate cards means a two-piece; a waistcoat is a third piece and adds about a third to the price. Sarees vary more than any other garment: a plain cotton or georgette saree is at the bottom of the range, while silk, zari and heavy embroidery push it to the top, and some services quote those only after seeing the piece. A coat and suit clean includes pressing on a form, which is where most of the labour goes.
Blankets, quilts, curtains and carpets
Household textiles are the second-biggest dry cleaning bill for most Delhi homes, and the one with the widest price spread, because the work scales with size and weight. A double two-ply blanket needs a bigger machine, a longer dry and more handling than a single, so it costs nearly twice as much.
| Item | Laxmi Nagar |
|---|---|
| Blanket, single (1 ply / 2 ply) | ₹275 / ₹325 |
| Blanket, double (1 ply / 2 ply) | ₹350 / ₹450 |
| Quilt / razai (single / double) | ₹375 / ₹475 |
| Duvet (single / double) | ₹300 / ₹400 |
| Bedsheet (single / double) | ₹150 / ₹200 |
| Curtain panel, door / window, no lining | ₹160 / ₹180 |
| Curtain panel, door / window, with lining | ₹180 / ₹200 |
| Carpet (per sq ft) | ₹25 |
| Blinds (per panel) | ₹30 |
Two practical notes. Curtains are priced per panel, not per pair, so a two-panel door curtain is two items; lined curtains cost a little more because the lining has to be cleaned and pressed without the two layers shrinking at different rates. Carpets are priced by area, so measure the length and width in feet before you ask for a quote: a 6 × 9 ft rug is 54 sq ft, or ₹1,350 at Laxmi Nagar. Details are on the blanket and quilt, curtain and carpet cleaning pages.
Shoes, bags, helmets, woollens and steam ironing
These are the services people are most surprised to find at a laundry, and the ones where prices differ most between shops, because not everyone does them properly.
| Service | Laxmi Nagar |
|---|---|
| Shoe cleaning, sports / canvas (per pair) | ₹350 |
| Shoe cleaning, leather / suede | ₹590 / ₹550 |
| Boots | ₹700 |
| Helmet cleaning | ₹350 |
| Handbag, fabric / leather | ₹200 / ₹550 |
| Wallet | ₹160 |
| Suitcase, small / large | ₹300 / ₹400 |
| Sweater, full / half sleeve | ₹250 / ₹200 |
| Sweatshirt | ₹175 |
| Leather jacket | ₹450 |
| Pashmina shawl | ₹600 |
| Steam iron only, shirt / trouser | ₹30 |
| Steam iron only, 2-piece suit | ₹110 |
| Steam iron only, saree | ₹60 |
Steam ironing on its own is the cheapest thing on any laundry card and often the most useful: a suit that is creased but not soiled needs a ₹110 press, not a ₹335 clean. Steam ironing is back in 24 hours. Shoe, bag, helmet and leather work is priced per item because each piece is cleaned by hand.
What actually decides the price
When two Delhi rate cards differ by 50% for the “same” service, one of these is usually the reason.
1. Fabric and construction
Cotton and polyester tolerate water and heat; silk, wool, viscose and anything lined or padded do not. The delicate ones need solvent cleaning, lower temperatures and hand-finishing, so they cost more per piece. That is the whole difference between the laundry card and the dry cleaning card.
2. Embellishment and size
Sequins, zari, beads and stonework have to be protected or hand-cleaned around. Long garments (lehengas, gowns, long coats) and big textiles (double blankets, door curtains) take more machine capacity and drying time. Expect a quote after inspection for bridal wear.
3. Express turnaround
Standard dry cleaning in Delhi is two to three days because solvent cleaning, drying and finishing are batched. Same-day or 24-hour service means jumping that queue, and most services, ClanClean included, charge about double for it.
4. Pickup and delivery
Some services build doorstep pickup into the per-kg rate; others charge it separately or set a minimum order. ClanClean’s pickup and delivery is free on orders over ₹500 across East and South Delhi.
5. Where the shop is
This is the one people miss. A laundry’s biggest costs are rent, power and skilled staff, and all three are higher in South Delhi than in East Delhi. That is why each ClanClean outlet publishes its own price list for identical work: the cleaning is done to the same standard, a South Delhi shop simply costs more to run. If you live between two outlets, you can choose whichever suits you; the figures in this guide are Laxmi Nagar’s.
6. What the discount is hiding
Almost every Delhi laundry advertises a discount. The number that matters is what you pay, not the list rate it is taken from. ClanClean prints both on its store price lists: a “Standard” column and a “You Pay” column that already has the 20% off applied. The figures in this guide are all You Pay figures.
How to spend less on laundry and dry cleaning in Delhi
- Send cottons by the kilo, not by the piece. Shirts, trousers, kurtas, T-shirts and bedsheets belong on the per-kg card. At ₹120 per kg for wash & steam iron, a shirt works out to roughly ₹25–₹30, a quarter of its dry cleaning rate.
- Dry clean only what needs it. Suits, coats, silk, wool, lined and embellished pieces, and anything with an oil-based stain. A cotton kurta does not need solvent.
- Press instead of clean. A suit worn once for a wedding usually needs a ₹110 steam press, not a full clean.
- Batch to clear the free-pickup threshold. Free doorstep pickup and delivery on orders over ₹500 means two blankets or a week’s laundry travel free; a single shirt does not.
- Use the seasonal windows. Blankets and woollens cleaned in March, when they go into storage, come out fresh in November and skip the winter rush.
- Prepay if you are a regular. ClanClean’s prepaid wallet gives 30% off instead of the standard 20%, and the balance works at any of the three outlets. Details are on the homepage.
- Check the card for what is included. ClanClean’s printed rate is the final rate, with the discount already applied and no coupon needed; some services itemise pickup, packing or express on top of the headline price.
Is professional laundry worth it against washing at home?
For a family sending 6–8 kg a week, wash & steam iron at ₹120 per kg comes to roughly ₹3,000–₹4,000 a month. Against that sits the cost of a machine, detergent, electricity, water, an iron, and around five hours a week of someone’s time. For most working households in Delhi the money is close and the time is not, which is why per-kg laundry has grown so quickly. For dry-clean-only garments there is no real home alternative: solvent cleaning and forming cannot be done in a kitchen, and a ₹335 suit clean is cheap next to a shrunk suit.
